U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon endorses
Commissioner Odom
Sept. 17, 2007
Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Bob Odom
picked up the endorsement of U.S. Rep. Charlie
Melancon (D-LA) in his bid for re-election as
Louisiana’s Commissioner of Agriculture and
Forestry.
“I’ve known Commissioner Odom for many years and
I’ve witnessed firsthand his dedication to the job
and commitment to the people of Louisiana,” Rep.
Melancon, former leader of the American Sugarcane
League, said. “He is a tireless leader who always
does what is best for farmers, ranchers, forest
landowners and consumers.”
Rep. Melancon also cited Odom’s experience and
integrity as reasons for the endorsement.
“Commissioner Odom has spent years building
relationships with the state’s Congressional
delegation and federal agriculture officials to
benefit Louisiana’s agriculture and forestry
industries. This state needs Bob Odom to continue
fighting for the people of Louisiana and its
agricultural community,” Melancon said.
“Commissioner Odom is a man of his word and when he
says he is going to do something – it gets done.”
In response, Commissioner Odom said he was honored
to have the support of a well-respected lawmaker and
long-time friend.
“Charlie is a true friend of Louisiana agriculture
and forestry. His experience working in the industry
has earned him the esteem of Louisiana’s rural
communities and I appreciate his support,”
Commissioner Odom said.
Commissioner Odom is seeking re-election in this
fall’s statewide elections October 20.
